Just last night I witnessed something that was so dazzling it made my hair stand on end. My husband and I attended a concert with the highly-acclaimed pianist Lang Lang and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

The point of the story: Music is a major source of inspiration and motivation for any design work I do. Recently, while working on a nursery, I had Lang Lang blasted over the speakers in my office. The soft yet strong keys are soothing and provide me with the perfect setting to create.

Below are a few rooms I designed while listening to classical music.

Fanning out the deck, I narrowed it down to two browns.  I ordered paint samples online (www.benjaminmoore.com) and painted them on white cardboard. My reward was finding the perfect brown for any bedroom.  Not too red and not too espresso, I discovered Middlebury brown HC-68.

Luckily, I had a client that was excited about using brown and was able to paint her walls with the same delicious color.  It turned out beautiful!
